Introduction
I launched MBS Audio in April, 2023 after finally deciding that my passion would no longer be a sideline hobby but instead front and centre in my personal & professional life.
My earliest memory of an audio playback device is of a portable record player my father owned. By portable, I mean it was cleverly integrated into a suitcase! As a curious 7-year-old, I found this utterly fascinating. Fast forward ten years, and I had landed my first weekend job at Sainsbury's and a significant portion of my wages was inevitably spent at a CD shop in Brixton Market!
At heart, I am first and foremost a music lover. I simply cannot imagine my life without music. A few years later, while commuting to and from work via London Victoria Station and, subsequently, London Oxford Street, my passion for high-end audio began to take root. These two locations were instrumental in sparking my interest.
How, you might ask? Well, every day after work, without fail, I would visit WH Smith at Victoria Station to read hi-fi magazines such as Hi-Fi World, Hi-Fi+, and Hi-Fi Choice. I was captivated by the expensive, and at the time, unattainable products featured within their pages. My fascination grew as I ventured to Tottenham Court Road, where I could see these coveted high-end audio systems in person at the boutique hi-fi dealers.

The rest, as they say, is history. I have been fortunate to own many audio systems since those early days, and they have brought me immense joy. However, I must admit that system building is no easy task. Along the way, I have also experienced moments of frustration, particularly when a highly anticipated component failed to live up to its hype or my expectations.

I emphasise music because, over the years, I’ve noticed that some audiophiles have lost sight of what this great hobby is truly about—the sheer joy, the breadth of emotions, the goosebumps, and the uplifting power that music can deliver. The experience becomes exponentially more profound when the music is reproduced so beautifully that you can almost feel the notes hanging in the air, as if you are in the front row of a live concert—it is truly palpable.
It is widely recognised that music has the power to lift your mood*. Over the years, I’ve lost count of how many times a stressful day has been soothed away by simply listening to my system, with the tension melting as the music played. I genuinely believe that a high-end audio system is life-enhancing, which inspired the name MBS Audio—because music is vital for my Mind, Body, and Soul.

Demonstrating Products In Your Listening Room, Not a Dealer’s
I come to you to demonstrate the products in your listening room. Although it is very useful to visit a dealer and listen to a system in their demo room, which is most probably laden with room acoustic treatments (as it should be), it only addresses one part of the equation. The question is what does that product sound like in your listening room with your components and speakers.
There are so many variables and the room is one of the biggest factors on the quality of sound from your system. This is why MBS Audio will always demonstrate products directly in your listening room so that you will know exactly what the products are doing, we can then look into room optimisation techniques if merited, again, one step at a time, with no pressure.
I really look forward to embarking on this System Optimisation journey with you. The Optimisation first approach may be challenging for some people to comprehend as they feel that a component change would bring about a greater improvement, whereas the reverse can be true.
